At Mt. Si Senior Center, we believe in the power of connection. When we say our mission is “Rooted in Community,” we mean that every program, every meal, and every smile is grounded in the shared strength of our valley. Our seniors—the heart of North Bend—have built families, businesses, and memories here. Now it’s our turn to give back, to weave a stronger safety net that lets them thrive.

What Does “Rooted in Community” Mean?
Being rooted means more than planting a seed—it’s nurturing relationships that endure. Here at MSSC, community roots spread through:
  • Shared Spaces: From lunch tables to fitness classes, friendships blossom.
  • Mutual Support: Volunteers and neighbors step in when help is needed
  • Collective Pride: We celebrate milestones together, from birthday dances to holiday bazaars.
Together, we cultivate a place where every senior belongs—and every gift helps that sense of community grow deeper.

Why Monthly Giving Matters
A one-time donation is wonderful, but monthly giving is transformative. By pledging even a small amount each month, you:
  1. Provide Stability—A predictable income allows us to plan ahead for essential services like transportation and healthcare programs.
  2. Maximize Impact—Regular gifts mean fewer administrative costs and more dollars reaching seniors’ needs.
  3. Build Momentum—As more supporters join, our collective power compounds, enabling new initiatives sooner.
With consistent support, we can confidently offer more affordable lunches, host more wellness classes, and ensure ride services are always available.

How Monthly Giving Benefits Mt. Si Senior Center
  • Sustainable Services: Guarantee daily lunch service for 1,200+ seniors.
  • Program Growth: Introduce new workshops, such as tech tutoring, art therapy, and fitness classes.
  • Emergency Safety Net: Keep our warming and cooling center, responding to heat advisories and cold snaps.
Every automatic donation is like planting a seed that blossoms into robust support for our seniors.

How You Can Start Today
  1. Visit our Donation Page: Choose a monthly amount that fits your budget.
  2. Set It & Forget It: Secure your gift through an easy, recurring donation form.
  3. Invite Friends: Share “Rooted in Community, Grown by You” on social media and encourage others to join.
By becoming a monthly giver, you become part of a caring network that uplifts seniors every single day.

Ready to make a difference? Start your monthly gift today and watch how your generosity takes root in our community.

Rethinking Aging

The Future Is Bright
How Advancements in Senior Health Are Helping Older Adults Thrive

The way we think about aging is undergoing a radical transformation. No longer viewed as a slow decline, aging is increasingly a time of growth, opportunity, and vibrant living—thanks to meaningful advances in healthcare, technology, and community support.

At Mt. Si Senior Center, this shift is in real time. Our members are not only living longer, but they’re also living better, and the data supports these trends.

What’s Changing in Senior Health?
1. Telehealth & Remote Care Access
The rise of telemedicine has broken down barriers for seniors, especially in rural areas.
  • In 2021, 43.3% of adults aged 65+ used telehealth, well above the 29.4% of younger adults (CDC).
  • Remote patient monitoring (RPM) tools will double in use by 2025. These tools allow seniors to track vital signs and receive early intervention care without leaving home.

2. Fall Prevention Technologies
Falls are still the leading cause of injury for seniors, but prevention tools are advancing:
  • Nearly 1 in 3 adults over 65 experiences a fall annually; over half of those over 80 fall at least once per year.
  • Today’s wearable sensors and fall-detection systems reach up to 99% accuracy, helping connect seniors to emergency care faster.
  • Programs like the CDC's STEADI initiative and balance-focused VR therapies are reducing fall-related ER visits across the U.S.

3. Social Connection as a Health Priority
We now know that loneliness can be as harmful as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
  • Harvard’s 85-year Study of Adult Development continues to show that strong social relationships are the top predictor of happiness and longevity.
  • Community centers, walking clubs, and "social prescribing" programs (where doctors refer patients to community activities) are vital health interventions.
  • With 84.8% of senior households online, virtual engagement tools also close isolation gaps.

4. Broader Access to Care and Inclusion
  • Geriatric care access has improved, with a 4% increase in geriatric specialists between 2022 and 2023.
  • More seniors are connected to care through tech, thanks to expanded broadband access and growing familiarity with digital tools.

What This Means for our Community
At Mt. Si Senior Center, we’re not just offering programs, we’re helping shape a future where older adults live independently, stay socially active, and access tools that truly support their well-being. Our walking groups, yoga classes, transportation services, and nutrition programs are just beginning.

The future of aging is active, connected, and empowered. But to keep the momentum going, community-wide investment in senior wellness programs is necessary.

If you believe in a future where everyone ages with dignity, joy, and purpose, now is the time to support the services that make it possible.

Here’s to aging vibrantly and building a future rooted in compassion, connection, and care.

At the Mt. Si Senior Center, seniors form the heart of our community, filled with wisdom, stories, experiences, and cherished memories that enrich our lives. We are excited to present the Golden Hearts, Golden Memories Gala on May 10, 2025, a night dedicated to celebrating and supporting the incredible seniors we proudly serve.

Why Is the Gala Important?
Our gala isn’t just another event—it’s a lifeline for the over 1,200 seniors who rely on the Mt. Si Senior Center. The funds raised directly support essential programs and services that make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Here’s how your support impacts our community:
  • Transportation Services: Many seniors rely on us to get to medical appointments, the grocery store, or even just the center itself. Accessible transportation is a lifeline that keeps them connected to the resources and relationships they need.
  • Low-Income Senior Housing: We provide affordable housing options tailored to the unique needs of seniors, ensuring safe and stable homes for those on fixed incomes
  • Nutritious Meals: We provide healthy, delicious lunches to help nourish and healthy.
  • Health & Wellness Programs: From exercise classes, arts, and special interest groups to mental health support, we empower seniors to stay active and independent, fostering both physical and emotional well-being.
  • Human Service Resources: We connect seniors to vital human services, including assistance navigating healthcare options and regional resources to improve their quality of life.
  • Social Connection: Loneliness is a serious issue for seniors, and our activities, events, and classes create a welcoming community.

By supporting the gala, you’ll ensure these programs remain available and accessible for future generations.

How You Can Support Our Mission:
There are many ways to get involved to make a difference:
  1. Sponsorship: Your business, organization, or family can sponsor the gala, ensuring it’s successful while gaining visibility as a regional champion for seniors.
  2. Donations: Whether it’s a financial contribution or an auction item, every gift directly impacts our programs.
  3. Volunteer: Your time and talents are invaluable, from event planning to helping on the night of the gala.
  4. Procurement: Do you know someone who can donate a memorable auction item or experience? Let us know so we can create an exciting auction lineup!

The Power of Community Support
This gala isn’t just a fundraising event—it’s a chance for our community to demonstrate how much we appreciate and support the Snoqualmie Valley seniors who have devoted their lives to nurturing the Snoqualmie Valley. Each dollar raised, every hour volunteered, and each auction item donated brings us closer to a brighter future.
Join us in making this year’s Golden Hearts, Golden Memories Gala the most impactful one yet. Together, we can ensure that every senior in our community is supported, honored, and connected.
