Mt. Si Senior Center (MSSC) is thrilled to announce receiving a significant grant from the Snoqualmie Tribe. This generous contribution of $50,000 supports and advances the Center’s mission to provide essential services, programs, and support to older adults in the Snoqualmie Valley.
The relationship between the Snoqualmie Tribe and MSSC is deeply rooted in a shared commitment to honoring our elders, a practice that has been a part of the Tribe’s culture since time immemorial. As Snoqualmie Tribal Council member Angela Young stated, “Our elders eat first. They paved the way for us to be here now.”
MSSC will be able to continue its vital work through this grant from the Snoqualmie Tribal Council, helping community members live with dignity, joy, and a sense of belonging. Many of MSSC’s offerings, from providing nutritious meals and fitness classes to facilitating social and recreational activities and wellness programs, are crucial in making resources affordable and accessible to seniors.
Tribal Council members Chrissie Sparling and McKenna Sweet Dorman personally delivered the news of this generous grant to MSSC on Monday.
Susan Kingsbury-Comeau, Executive Director at Mt. Si Senior Center, expressed heartfelt thanks: “This significant gift from the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe will greatly enhance our ability to provide a warm, supportive space where seniors can thrive. It allows us to continue offering the essential services that our seniors rely on—health and wellness programs, facility improvements, enriching activities, and the meals they depend on.”
Mt. Si Senior Center looks forward to further strengthening its partnership with the Snoqualmie Tribe. Together, the organizations remain committed to enriching the lives of seniors in the Snoqualmie Valley, ensuring they continue to be honored, cared for, and celebrated as cherished family members.
